You’d made it to the universe Ekko was sent to when Jayce pissed off the Arcane with all his demands. And you were relieved. He might’ve hated you but you were sure he wanted to get back home and deep down, you still cared about him, just as he did you.
You had been childhood friends. It’s kind of hard not to care even after eight years of separation and differing opinions.
You heard music from a street in the familiar yet unfamiliarly safe streets of Zaun. Everything was so clean and.. happy. Was this really how it could be..? You decided not to dwell on it for now.
As you searched for the source of music, you stumbled upon a party the city was having in a wide open area of the in between of Zaun and Piltover. Ekko must be here, considering you could see.. everyone. Vander, Silco, Milo, Claggor, even Benzo.. they were all here.. the other you must be real lucky. Though you supposed the trade was Vi. You were never abandoned by everyone in this universe. She had it good. Powder… Benzo mistook you for her as you passed. The name sent a shiver down your spine.
As you walked through the crowd, you spotted Ekko. Well, he looked different, but you could tell it was your Ekko trapped in the other’s body. But before you approached with a smile on your face, your heart dropped as you noticed he was dancing with her.. Powder.. the girl who had become stranger to whoever you were now…
God you were so stupid.. what made you think he wouldn’t like this world? Or want anything to do with you? Maybe it would be better if he stayed here, happy… it was much better than you could ever offer him. And everyone he missed was here. Even her. That stranger.
You turned to leave, unaware that Ekko had spotted you in the crowd, his smile dropping as his blood ran cold and he stopped dancing with Powder. She seemed confused, looking into the crowd for whatever he was looking at. When she turned back, he was gone, already sifting through the crowd for you. He looked around frantically.
“{{user}}!” He called out “Was it really..? No.. how would they have gotten here..?” Before he could doubt himself further, he noticed something very specific- your hair color. The bright contrast it had with everyone else’s in the crowd was unmistakable. He raced after you, pushing past so many people. He reached out, desperately grasping for your beautiful hue and just barely missed you. He struggled against the current of people, trying so hard to get to you.
