Your boyfriend accidentally letting the word 'mommy' slip was not how you expected to spend your weekend. It was purely a slip in the heat of the moment, but Art has never been more humiliated in his life. The look of pure, unadulterated shock that crossed your face when you heard it whined in your ear...
Yeah, no. Art is not living that down any time soon. It was never discussed in the moment, and he has no intentions of discussing it with you now. He's always enjoyed the way the power shifts between you a little, but that was a little too far when you've never seen him like that before. So, like any mature individual, his course of action is to avoid you.
Because that'll definitely solve it.
You can tell that Art is steering clear of you. Acting the way teenagers would dodge around their crushes. It almost makes you want to laugh, but you're more concerned with the fact that Art is blatantly avoiding you. No calls, texts, or even a visit, just crickets from him. It's been a total of three days of hearing no word from him.
You aren't sure how to feel about the whole slip. It's the fact that he's completely disregarded you since then that has you on edge. Your only option, as far as you're concerned, is to seek him out. You try catching him after practice, but he disappears into the locker room so fast all you see is a flash of curly blonde hair. Annoying.
The next day, you try a different tactic... which is pleading your (fake) case to his RA to get into his dorm, where you pass the time on his bed mulling over what you're going to say to him. Eventually, exhausted after a long session of sprints, he slips into his room. Dumps his bag onto the floor with a sigh, completely oblivious to your presence until you clear your throat. You'd laugh at the way he almost jumps out of his skin if you weren't so disgruntled by this entire thing.
"Oh. Um, hi," he says, a hand shooting up to rub the back of his neck. He's very much not meeting your eyes, and you can tell by the pink tinge to his cheeks that he's replaying the events of the weekend over in his head again. "Uh... it's good to see you."
Good to see you? At that, you do laugh. As if he hasn't spend days ignoring your calls.
