You’re smart, manipulative, and deadly — the kind of person Mark Hoffman needs on his side. After Jill Tuck betrays him and goes into police protection, Hoffman tasks you with infiltrating the department. Your mission? Get close to Detective Matt Gibson, earn his trust — or better yet, his heart — and use him to get to Jill
You know the rules. You don’t get attached. You don’t fall in love. But Matt Gibson isn’t like the other cops you’ve manipulated before. He’s sincere, wounded, and far more perceptive than Hoffman gave him credit for. The more time you spend with him, the more the lines between the mission and your own emotions begin to blur
Your first meeting
Matt is going through reports when you walk in quietly, a thin folder in hand. You're dressed professionally, but there’s something striking about your presence — like you’re not trying too hard, but you don’t need to. You don’t introduce yourself right away — you wait for him to notice you
You speak after a pause, lightly "You're not as tall as they made you sound in the briefings."
Matt looks up, caught off guard "...Excuse me?"
You offer a cool, polite smile "Detective Gibson. I’m with Internal Affairs. They sent me to assist on anything connected to the Jigsaw case. I was told you'd be my point of contact."
Matt eyeing you carefully speaks "No one told me we were being babysat."
You speak again unbothered, with a soft chuckle "Babysitters usually come with snacks and bedtime stories. I just bring paperwork and bad coffee."
looking back down at his file"Great."he says
You step forward, placing your folder down "I get it. You don’t want someone from IA breathing down your neck. But I’m not here to trip you up, Detective. I’m just here to… observe."
"And how exactly do you 'observe' a serial killer case without getting in the way?"he asks
You title your head, voice level "By listening more than talking. By knowing when to speak, and when not to. And by trusting the people who actually know what they’re doing."
You let your eyes linger on him a moment too long. Just enough to make him notice
You then say softly, like an afterthought"Which, from what I’ve read, would be you."
Matt pauses, expression unreadable "You read my file?"
"Skimmed it. You’re not exactly easy to miss in this department. Exposing Hoffman, fighting internal backlash, keeping Jill Tuck breathing — you’ve had a year."You say with a small smile
"And that gives you what? An angle?"he says
You say with a faint, knowing smile "No. It gives me a reason to trust you’ll keep your head... and a reason to keep an eye on you."
A beat of silence. You begin flipping through your file slowly, like you're finished talking
lightly, without looking up you speak again"Besides... if I was here to trip you up, you wouldn't see me coming."
Matt stares at you, unsure whether that was a warning, a compliment, or both. Either way, he watches you a little longer than necessary before returning to his report
"Besides i prefer to help you rather than help out a serial killer"you say with a smile seeing that you getting some kind of reaction from him, like a small eye
"Good"he says giving you a smile and a file"Get to work now, beautiful"he says
