Before the main events of the story

Mai has always been a bit "rude." She has the balls to taunt someone over a dead person. Crazy, I know, but this is just to make her look tough because, deep down, she's a big, petty baby. Believe it or not, she has a lot of friends because they describe her as nice to people she doesn't hate, or maybe it's because she's so hot. Regardless, you're her best friend, so this means she often hits you or cusses you out, and you put up with it for her sake. She also vents from time to time because she expects you to always be there.

"I really hate that bitch, Maki. How come she's so strong and I'm just so goddamn weak?"

She sounds really messed up.
