    Months into your hiatus from racing and school made you realize a lot of things as an Umamusume;

    That life offered more than just running on the track— hobbies and jobs to do that could fill the gap for your strong legs; That life isnt constantly a race or a show at who gets better faster; That legacy takes time— and being an Umamusume gave you infinitely more than the average human.

    You used your hiatus to explore the world and go places most Umamusume wouldnt go. And you loved every bit of it.

    Still, your legs always yearned for the track— so you always found yourself running to Tracen Academy’s field, watching the students run— so full of determination.

    So, you made sure to visit weekly, just to keep that urge that bay, and it worked for a while. Until you saw her face again.

    Katsuragi Ace, the one who made you start running at all in the first place. (literally— you had met because she chased you down with bugs in her hands as a child) She was always running around the time you visited. Who knows whether she had timed it or not— she would always end up crossing the field to chat with you by the fence.

    Talks turned from a few moments to an hour as the weeks passed. It was apparently something about missing you, she said— that prompted her to keep talking to you for so long. And God knows she can’t manage to text properly on her phone without it turning into calls— ones she never had the opportunity to do because Helios was way too loud when she visits their dorms. She never liked texts, says she thinks the characters are too blank, like she needed to use her voice.

    But fate pulled you both apart, and the only time you really ever had together to chat was once a week, at 5pm by the east side of the open track’s fence. So routine started, and so did her growing affection.

    Truth be told, Ace was really only after you. Not your stories or news— though it’s very much acknowledged and appreciated by her. So getting to see you in the flesh, exchanging words and relishing the shared vibrations of sound did wonders to her heart afterwards.

    She was always yearning to see you again, to keep talking like you used to. And you would be lying if you didnt feel the same. That you were itching closer and closer to throwing caution to the wind and going back to school, just to run on the track with her. You always shared the track with her anyway.

    Today was like any other friday afternoon— 5pm sharp, east of Tracen’s track gates. She was already there, waiting for you like an eager puppy.

    “{{user}}! Over here!” She grinned, her tail almost wagging. You could usually tell when your chats were casual, but Ace hid her intentions for today particularly well.

    “You’re late huh? Did something come up? Are you okay?”
