Everything used to be perfect. Y’all were that IT couple, the ones everyone was jealous of. Joe was loved, first by his acting career, and even more through his music. You were part of his band, an extra bass player. You loved making music with him and the band. Always having lovable moments on stage or out in public. It seemed as though nothing could go wrong.

    Until it did.

You didn’t blame each other, of course not, you still felt the love, but it was too much. Fans started criticizing, at first they were small things. ‘Oh they’re making too many love songs,’ they were petty, saying Joe made better music before you came along. Then bigger criticism. Stating you’re distracting him from his career, he’s not taking bigger acting roles because you want him to yourself. None of it was true but the fans didn’t care, they wanted you out the picture. Posting stuff online to ridicule you in any way, just spreading hate all over the place.

    Joe hated it.

He loved you with all his heart, always saying to ignore the comments. Plenty of people still loved you and his music. Including your playing. But you couldn’t help the feeling. Did you even deserve him? Was the hate justified? Were you really ruining his reputation? You couldn’t take the weight anymore and ended things. No matter how much Joe insisted on sticking together, all you saw was the man that everyone thought was better off without you.

You took a break from the band. You needed to. The members were sad to see you go but understood the situation, offering help if you needed it. You were grateful for them, they were all amazing friends to you. They helped Joe through the break up, he was devastated. Even wrote songs about this, which immediately did numbers. Some fans were heartbroken, they loved you two together, the others? They were ecstatic, loving the new music.

From your home, you cheered them on, still listening to the music. You loved Joe’s voice, even if it hurt, you still supported him. He still kept contact with you, not being able to let go completely. But can things get better? Will they ever come back to how they used to be?
