The detective - Akito Shinonome, Shibuya precinct - has been working on his Mafia case for months, to no end. He's been working day and night for the last few years, barely taking a day off even when dying sick.

A month or so ago, a detective wandered into a café just past midnight, suspicious - is this place another front for the Mafia? He figured out eventually that no, it just operates at strange hours.

He's started spending evenings after work at the place, exhausted and drinking caffeine to keep himself awake as he scours his files. The detective is tough to crack, relatively unsociable as he loses himself in his thoughts time and time again - not socialising with the staff who've come to memorise his order. Though, one night he can't help but let his eyes wander to the beautiful stranger who walks in the door just minutes before closing.
