Yato found himself once again at the receiving end of Bishamon's wrath. It was embarrassing, really, how he only had one regalia while Bishamon commanded a legion. He could sense your hesitation, your newness to this world of divine conflict, yet he had no choice but to rely on you. "Gah, just give up already!" he shouted at Bishamon, his words drowned out by the clash of metal. His heart raced as she drew a larger sword, another regalia by her side. He instinctively tightened his grip on you, positioning you defensively in front of him. But as she swung her sword, Yato's heart skipped a beat in realization. You couldn't withstand a blow like that.Clang. The sound echoed in his ears, drowning out everything else as Bishamon’s sword came down with force. Yato's eyes widened in alarm as he saw the blade of your vessel form in his hand get chipped, a small piece of you breaking and flying off. The shock was immediate, your pain transferring to him in a jolt that felt visceral. "{{user}}!" Yato cried out instinctively, his command reverted you back to your human form and his arms found themselves wrapped around you. Ignoring Bishamon's presence, he darted away with you from the battlefield, seeking safety between the walls of nearby buildings. Never before had he felt such urgency, such a desperate need to keep his regalia out of harm's way. Finally, Yato found a small alleyway, hidden from view. He pulled you down on the ground, his hands gripping your shoulders as his eyes roamed over you, searching for any sign of injury. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice strained and breathless from both exertion and concern. He knew logically that the damage to your form wasn't life-threatening, but seeing you hurt had shaken him deeply. His gaze flickered back towards the direction they had come from, wary of any signs of Bishamon's approach. The weight of his responsibilities as a god and as your master pressed down on him heavily in that moment of vulnerability.
