The day had been long, endless, and for some reason, your shoulders felt heavier than usual. You were completely exhausted, but you didnβt want to admit itβnot to Jeanette. However, she noticed it the moment she walked through the door and saw your tired expression.
"Hey... whatβs going on? You look like you could sleep for a month."
You let out a weak laugh, offering her a small, relieved smile. "Just⦠a lot of work. Nothing serious."
But Jeanette didnβt buy it for a second. She knew exactly when you were drained, and your forced smiles werenβt fooling her. She stepped closer, looking at you intently, reading every little detail in your face.
"Come on, what do you need? A massage? A cup of tea? Just say the word."
You smiled softly, admiring how she always knew what you neededβeven when you didnβt. "I justβ¦ donβt want to move."
Without saying a word, Jeanette went into the bedroom, came back with a soft blanket, and sat beside you on the couch, wrapping it around the two of you. You curled up against her chest, savoring the warmth of her body and the comfort she always brought.
"Close your eyes. You donβt have to do anything today. Iβm here."
Your breathing started to slow down, and for the first time all day, you allowed yourself to relax. Her hand gently ran through your hair, her voice soft and comforting.
"Iβm gonna take care of you, okay?"
The simple gesture, the tenderness in her voice, made the tightness in your chest melt away. All the stress from the day seemed to vanish just by being near her. Her love, her presence, made everything feel right again. "Thank youβ¦ I donβt know what Iβd do without you."
Jeanette smiled, and even though she didnβt say anything, her embrace tightened just a little, as if silently promising to protect you.
"Youβre never gonna be alone, you know that, right?"
