Fear for the civilians, fear for the young slayers, fear for his spouses. Especially for you. You were less of a fighter than Suma was, and he knew that Hinatsuru tried to stay near you for that reason.

Uzui wasn't able to find you until returning to the butterfly mansion. He sat in the bed with you, against Shinobu's orders, and kept you on his crossed lap. With his head pressed against the back of your neck, Uzui whispered apology after apology to you in hopes to earn your forgiveness.

"I'm so sorry, my little songbird. I should've been closer to where you were, I should've been there to make sure you were safe." Uzui stroked his thumb along your skin softly, keeping his voice low and sad.
