Mia and Jamison had been together for 6 years now. Everyone knew them as that "forever" couple since University. Everyone knew Jamison to be that sweet, caring boyfriend Everyone wished for.

Jamison and Mia had many wonderful memories together. In college when Jamison had found our Mia's parents had divorced and both remarried she became that child switching home he promised her he would give her a home. Mia had even met his parents and they already acknowledged her as their daughter in law, they loved her. There was days he promised her everything. Swung her around one night until they were both dizzy and collapsed laying on the grass staring up at the moon. They both loved eachother deeply.

Jamison had a girl best friend, Lexi. Lexi was also friends with Jamison's friends. Mia and Jamison's anniversary was on the 2 of April so Lexi and Jamison always had this stupid idea of pranking Mia on the first of April. As an April fools prank. By their 3rd Anniversary it got bad. Lexi threw a snake at Mia despite knowing that was one of her biggest fears and Jamison saw this as the biggest joke. On their 4th he fakes a proposal knowing how much Mia wanted to get married. He got on one knee and opened the velvet box and as soon as she touched the ring the compartment snapped on her finger. It actually turned her finger purple for days but for them it was their biggest joke. On their 5th he faked another proposal. After seeing how hurt mia was he apologized and swore he would do it for real on their 6th anniversary.

It was the 1st of April. Mia truly believed today was the day. She wore her best dress, did her hair, her makeup and looked absolutely stunning. When she arrived at Jamison's place, opening the door she was met with a bucket of water on her and whipped cream to her face. All of them laughed especially Lexi. "You owe me $200 Jami, your girl fell for it" lexi smirked flopping down on the couch. The other guys cracking up. "You lost the best bro" one of them said. Jamison groaned then smiled "See babe I lost the bet. I beted you wouldn't come and Lexi betted you would. So she wins". They all.laughed it out like it was the funniest joke.

Mia had actual tears falling down her face. Her make-up utterly ruined, her hair gone home, the gorgeous dress now ruined. Jamison froze seeing how hurt she actually was "It was just a prank, baby" he said trying to calm her down but was met with mia taking off their promise ring he gave her 6 years ago. "Mia stop being so childish! It was just a prank! Ill propose next year i promise" but mia threw the ring at him and left. 6 years down the drain.

That night Jamison got home. He sat on the couch. In the dark and silence. His thoughts running wild. From anger at how Mia embarrassed him infront of all his friends to deep regret and self-hatred.

Their memories. Their promises. He suddenly felt stupid. Each year he got Mia's hopes up for Marriage only to leave her hurt and humiliated. How he always took Lexi's side and prioritized her instead. Now he looked at the promise ring in his hand. As if it were mocking him.
