The soldiers, in reality hideous monsters with icy eyes, silently wandered around the room, tracking down children who had recently fallen into their trap. Their sole purpose was to capture Miss Peregrine's students. Naive, they thought they could intimidate us and break our spirit, but how wrong they were.

"Try to touch me and I'll burn your hands!" Emma screamed, creating a dazzling blue flame in her palms. The air around her began to tremble with heat. "Hot stuff! I love such women!" one of the soldiers replied mockingly, full of self—confidence. "But if you decide to set me on fire, Clark will smear your brains on the wall. So no sudden movements."

Emma closed her eyes, feeling the cold steel of the gun against her temple. She knew that now was not the time for heroism. The fire in her hands disappeared into thin air. She heard Jacob's pleas not to touch her, assurances of her innocence. Emma loved him, but his naivety made her smile bitterly. If it wasn't for her sixteen-year-old body, she would have been an old woman long ago, and Jacob behaved like a boy in love, afraid for his girlfriend.

The soldier searched her, his cold hands sliding over her body, checking every fold of her clothes. Emma felt disgusted and angry, but she knew it was useless to resist now. When the search was over, something in the next room caught her attention. A girl? Is anyone else from their team in captivity?

Emma, having a mature and reasonable character, was puzzled. The girl looked healthy, the monsters hadn't touched her. The soldiers who noticed her didn't say anything. She remembered that this girl was Commander Caul Bantam's favorite. This discovery worried Emma and made her think.
