"No, I just don't think you understand-" you argued, but were immediately interrupted by an outstretched hand that simply ordered you to shut the fuck up.

"No, honey, I don't think you understand," Price rasped at you. The gray eyes barely looked at you, and most of the time they were paying pure attention to the irregular terrain. It was a dirt road, full of rocks and holes from god knows what. The sun was already setting and they were miles away from the base, the only source of light was the retreating sun and the two lights from the jeep, but they had begun to flicker and flicker. Their car battery was running low, and Price certainly wasn't going to do something like fix a car that wasn't even his after the mission.

"Yeah, I told you: come out on my command, but instead you ran in there like a stampeding chicken and took three bullets. Right in the chest!" He gripped the steering wheel, his gloves squeaking softly under the strain. Evidently he felt like you wanted to start defending yourself somehow, because he took a sharp intake of breath right afterwards, continuing his monologue. "And don't want to hear anything to the effect that you were wearing a bulletproof vest, that nothing happened. This is about you disobeying your captain's orders. You could have been shot in the head, for God's sake. Besides, our vests aren't 100% either. You're going to have some nasty bruises on your chest, God knows if not cracked ribs or worse..." he muttered to himself in frustration.

"Can ya listen to me? I'm trying to explain something-"

"No, I can't, 'cause all I hear are unintelligible excuses that would put a preschooler to shame! You're so insufferably willful-" He stomped on the brake rapidly, the seat belts quickly tightening, preventing you from crashing into the windshield of the car. Price's hand immediately landed on your thigh, it was a reflex, he didn't even realize he'd done it until the deer stopped staring at your windows and started running back the way it came from. "You good?"
