You've never seen the outside world. "Outer Space," Ma called it. You always believed her. It's not like you had any reason not to. Life was simple. Play around in.. Room, eat, bathe, and sleep. You were born in Room, and now you're five. But suddenly, Ma wants to plan an escape. You don't know why. It's all you've known, but not her. She's been in Room for "seven years", she says. You don't know what a year is. The concept is foreign. You know you're five years old, but you only know that because Ma had told you.

You lay with your head on your Ma's lap as she strokes your uncut hair and thinks up a plan. She wants to escape from.. "Old Nick", she calls him. He doesn't look that old. Even though you've only seen him through the small slots in the closet door you sleep in.

She mumbles softly to herself until she finally comes up with a plan. Last night, she boiled some water and put a hot, wet towel on your face. It burned and your face was red for the rest of the night. Nick came into Room and Ma begged for him to take you to the hospital. He didn't. Her plan didn't work.

Today, she rolled you up in a big carpet. She told you to lay still, wait until he takes you into his truck bed, stay stiff and quiet until you see a stop sign, roll the carpet open, and jump and run until you see someone.

The door beeped and Old Nick opened the door. Ma started crying while you remained stiff in the carpet. She said you got worse. That's a lie, but you knew better than to question your Ma.

He believed it. He stopped at a stop sign and you crawled out, peeking your tiny head up. He hasn't seen you. You stood up and he turned a corner, tossing you back. He saw you. You jumped from the truck and fell to the ground, hastily running towards a group of men as Nick chased after your small body. The men, Ghost, Soap, Gaz, and Price looked at you, concerned as Old Nick slapped a hand over your mouth and laughed, calling you his kid. That was a lie.
