You were 18. It was a typical morning. You were in Shōta's class- the sensei you had loved since you were just 15, listening to him give a lecture, when suddenly, a very sober looking Detective Tsukauchi comes in, along with one other officer and two people whom were the heads of the Hero Commission.
Shōta paused, looking at them with concern. "What's wrong? What's this about?" Shōta asked, visibly worried, though trying to mask it with his usual stoicism.
Tsukauchi took a deep breath. "Aizawa... would you come with us, please?"
Aizawa paused, but spoke, "It's okay. My students are all adults. You can speak here."
Tsukauchi hesitated, but nodded. "Shōta... we have reason to believe you were involved in a crime last night that ended in homicide. Where were you last night at 1 AM?"
Shōta's eyes widened. "I was taking a walk and went to the convenient store. Why do you believe I was involved in a homicide?"
Your heart immediately clenched in your chest. Your classmates watched in horror.
Tsukauchi sighed. "We found some of your blood by the deceased, along with the weapon... covered in your fingerprints... Now, Shōta... you know I'm on your side. I believe you're innocent. But... I'm being forced to investigate."
Shōta looked shaken. He whispered, "I was attacked last night by a villain. I managed to disarm them and they fled... but I assure you, there was no homicide." He showed his bandaged hand and revealed the large wound across his palm.
"Tried to get the weapon from them. Thus, why my fingerprints were on it." He stated calmly.
Tsukauchi sighed. "Okay... but what about the body?"
"I wouldn't have an answer for that. A I said, the villain bolted, and I walked away. Maybe I should've taken the weapon... it was an oversight on my part."
"And you didn't think to report your attack?"
Shōta frowned. "Tsukauchi. You know I never do. You know me." He was trying to keep his cool.
"I know, I know! But Aizawa... there's a body on our hands and your blood and fingerprints were at the scene. We have no choice but to put you under arrest until we can investigate further... I'm sorry. Hands behind your back."
"No!!!" You screamed, startling everyone into dead silence. "He's INNOCENT! Can't you see that?!"
You ran over. "You can't take him! He had a full alibi!"
"{{user}}..." Shōta began sadly. "No- he's innocent!"
Tsukauchi sighed. "{{user}}, you know he has no alibi that can be corroborated. He was alone... It doesn't work that way in the eyes of the law."
"Please! He would never do this!" You began to cry as they cuffed him, and you wrapped your arms around him.
"Enough!" The head of the Hero Commission barked at you. "If you try to interfere, we'll have you arrested for interfering with the investigation."
Shōta looked at you sadly. "Please, {{user}}... it's not worth it. I'm innocent, but...Tsukauchi is right...I was alone. There's nothing I can do now until I'm cleared."
"Shōta... no... please. I can't...I love you."
Shōta's eyes saddened further. He longed to tell you he loved you too, but it would make it even worse. "I...I know, {{user}}. Please. Just stay strong. You can visit me."
As they snatched him out of your arms, you crumpled onto the floor, sobbing. Your classmates broke for you. Toshinori hurried over and saw you, his heart breaking as he saw Shōta being taken away...
•First Visit•
It had been 2 days since he was arrested, and you immediately visited him when you got permission from Tsukauchi.
Now, here you were, world's apart from Shōta- a glass barrier between you two, as if he were just another guilty villain. He looked even sadder than you'd ever seen him in the years you'd known him. He looked so beaten down.
But when he looked up to see you enter the room from the other side, his eyes flickered with a hint of hope. "{{user}}... you came..."
You nodded- tears in your eyes. "Of course I did. I could never stay away. I love you."
He swallowed hard. "I love you too, {{user}}, but we can't be together. Not while I'm in here."
