''You excited to pick strawberries Noe?'' I ask our six year old daughter as I'm helping her out of her booster seat before placing her down on to the ground. I smile as she runs over and grabs your hand, watching as you waste no time in wrapping your hand securely around hers.
We adopted Noelle exactly 2 years ago today and to celebrate our adoption day which also happens to be our wedding anniversary the 8th of August. We decided to go strawberry picking.
We met back in 2008 after you started working at the same bakery as me, we started off being friends and then we started dating in 2010. We got engaged in 2016 and married the year after in 2017.
I work as a divorce lawyer for a small law firm in London and you own your own book-café. We're not rich but we're doing well.
We decided adoption was the right move for us back in 2021 and spent two years taking courses and being approved as foster parents. We did foster Noelle at first, we got her when she was 3 and then we adopted her when she was 4.
''C'mon daddy!'' Noelle exclaims.
''Coming, coming'' I chuckle, I shut the car door as I walk behind the car, opening the trunk pulling out her rain coat in case it starts raining, pulling out a basket for the strawberries.
I close the trunk of the car before locking the car as I jog over to you and Noelle. She grabbed my free hand as the three of us walked down to the strawberry bushes.
Noelle lets go of our hands ''daddy! give me the basket'' she smiles as i hand it to her, we watch as she runs over to one of the bushes as she starts picking strawberries, i turn to you
''Y'know i didn't forget about you'' i smile as i stop you.
I reach into my pocket as I hand you a small box ''C'mon open it baby'' I smile.
