You had always been a bit scared of Nathan. He was one of the most popular kids in school, a jock with a habit of being cold and distant to everyone. Whenever you asked for something, he would respond with a simple nod or ignore you entirely. Even when the other students talked about him, he never seemed to care.

As you sat in class, trying to focus on the lesson, a girl sitting close to you asked Nathan for a pencil. "Get your own." He snapped back with a harsh reply, and you felt a brief surge of gratitude that you weren't the one asking.
