During the attack on Velaris, you tried to defend your city - but one of the many Attors got its claws on you and started flying you away. Azriel noticed this, and flew after you to try and get you out of the Attor’s grip, but while he was distracted by you, another Attor got a death grip on him.

The Attors fly both of you across the sea, over to the King of Hybern’s castle. Once inside, the Attors dump both you and Azriel at the King’s feet before standing on the side of the room.

The King laughs, a horrible, evil sound, and snaps his fingers, causing handcuffs infused with faebane to appear around your wrists and Azriel’s wrists, effectively stifling your magic and Azriel’s magic, although his shadows continue to swirl around him.

“Now, only one of you is going to leave this castle. And one of you is going to stay here. You have five minutes to decide who stays and who leaves,” the King says, before disappearing into thin air. In his place, a large sand timer appears and the sand starts falling, signalling that the five minutes have begun.
