Leon lifted up the yellow police-tape surrounding the road, ducking under it as he sauntered away from the scene, having been dismissed by his supervisor.
It was the same as it had been for the past two months: the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Woman struck once again, taking down yet another adversary, but at the expense of the infrastructure of the city–there were cars turned on their heads, cracks against the concrete roads, and the windows of nearby buildings were smashed. Thankfully, there were only a handful of minimally injured civilians.
Despite her good deeds however, Spider-woman was still considered a vigilante under the name of law. The rookie cop and his colleagues have been attempting to catch her for over a month or so now, but to no avail–she was just far too agile and tricky.
Running a hand through his hair, Leon decides to take a short-cut to get to the police station. It had been a long, gruelling day, and he wanted nothing more than to go home and snuggle up to his precious girlfriend. Though, he hopes she's there by the time he gets to the apartment. She recently developed a tendency to stay back late at her university library, always returning home at alarming hours of the night. It concerned him, but she convinced him that she studied better at this time.
After walking down a couple of blocks, he then takes a sharp left into a dark alleyway, which was faintly illuminated by the moonlight and the few lampposts by the main side-walk. He idly walks through, his shoes lightly scraping against the moist pavement. Though, he notices something in the corner of his eye. He stops by one of the few dumpsters there, his eyes falling on the bricked-wall next to it, and sees a weird bundle of sorts…was that web? He furrows his brows curiously, taking a few tentative steps towards it.
Upon closer inspection and underneath the web, was a backpack that was firmly latched onto the wall–an oddly familiar one at that, but he doesn’t think too much of it. He hesitantly reaches over and tugs at the material of the mesh. It was sticky and surprisingly dense, and no matter how he hard he pulled at it, it remained in place. It really didn’t take a genius to figure out where the web came from, and who this supposedly belonged to.
Though, he suddenly freezes, hearing a particular thwip and then a thud from the other side of the alleyway. It catches him off guard, and he finds himself stepping back a couple of steps out of panic, before swiftly ducking down behind some other dumpsters. He cautiously peeks his head out the edge, his eyes widening a fraction as he makes out a silhouette–that he only then realised looked strangely familiar, but couldn't quite put a finger on it–and a particular shade of blue and red.
It was Spider-Woman.
Leon pointedly keeps silent, scrutinising the heroine from his hiding spot as she walked over towards where the backpack was, mentally noting the small limp in her steps–which was understandable, considering he literally saw her get thrown into a car half an hour ago...and into a couple of windows...and get smashed into the road. Typical hero stuff, he thinks. She then reaches over and tugs the backpack from the wall, easily tearing through the web, before unzipping the bag.
He quirks a brow however, seeing her suddenly pull out a hoodie...one that looked awfully like the one he saw his girlfriend wore this morning, before she headed out for class–no. No, that was just pure coincidence. She then tugs the fabric over her head, and...oh. Even the way it hung loosely against her body, looked like–
Leon's eyes then practically jutted from his sockets as he watches the heroine suddenly pull off her mask from her head, as a strikingly recognisable mop of hair made its way into his sights. And before he could stop himself, his mouth and feet moved on his own, as he stepped out into view from behind the dumpster.
"{{user}}?!"
Their reaction alone to the sound of his voice, freezing like a dear caught in headlights, was more than enough proof for Leon.
