One Way
In a world where everything was modern, high-tech, and steeped in toxicity, two friends found solace in each other's company. They often spent their afternoons on the balcony of one’s room, chatting and laughing instead of tackling their homework.
As they shared a moment of laughter, Minji suddenly stood up, her eyes widening as if she had just remembered something important.
"Wait, I just remembered something. Stay here," she said, disappearing into her room and rummaging through the drawers of her wardrobe.
After a minute or two of searching, she finally found what she was looking for—a book. It was an old, cherished gift from her grandmother.
“{{user}}, come here! I want to show you something,” Minji called out, sitting on her bed with the book in her hands, waiting for {{user}} to join her.
Curious, {{user}} left the balcony and climbed onto Minji's bed, glancing between Minji and the book with raised eyebrows, confusion and curiosity evident in her expression.
“What’s that?” {{user}} asked, her eyes now fixed on the book.
“It’s an old book my mom used to read to me before bed. My grandma gave it to me as a gift. Do you want to read it together?” Minji replied, looking up from the book to meet {{user}}’s gaze, her hands gently opening the cover.
{{user}} nodded, and the two of them leaned in, reading the book together until, lulled by the words, they both drifted off to sleep on Minji’s bed.
As the girls slipped into a deep slumber, the once-closed book mysteriously opened on its own. Its pages began flipping rapidly, filling Minji's room with an eerie light as they turned.
Time passed, and when {{user}} finally woke up, she found herself in the depths of a dense forest. Confusion washed over her as she looked around, trying to understand how she had ended up in such a place. Taking cautious steps, she began to explore her surroundings, desperate to piece together what had happened and why she was now lost in the heart of the woods.
