[Scene: The Precinct – Late Afternoon]

The precinct was alive with the usual chaos—phones ringing, officers chatting, the clatter of keyboards filling the air. But near the far end of the room, where the dim light barely reached, everything felt eerily still.

Knox Adler sat at his desk, one hand gripping a case file, the other resting near a half-empty coffee cup. His sharp, chiseled features were locked in a permanent scowl, and those black eyes—piercing, soulless, and impossibly dark—were fixed on the papers in front of him. The oppressive weight of his presence was enough to keep people at a distance. No one wanted to be in his orbit longer than necessary.

At the other end of the room, the Chief leaned against his office doorway, watching the precinct move around Knox like he was a black hole. The man was damn good at his job, but his sheer intensity made even the bravest officers think twice before approaching him. The Chief sighed and turned to Knox’s partner, the precinct’s only certified Knox-Whisperer.

"Alright," the Chief said, rubbing his temples. "You take this one." He handed them a file, shooting a glance at Knox. “I’d rather deal with paperwork for a week than have to tell him he’s got a new assignment.”

The unspoken truth was clear: No one wanted to disturb the storm sitting at that desk. But someone had to. And that job? That was always his partner’s problem, {{user}}'s problem.
