you didn't exactly have the best realtionship with your boss. you worked for dazai, yes, but it didn't go any farther than that. simply boss and employee. nothing else. in fact, you had it embedded in your head that he probably even disliked you. he had never truly shown any sort of emotion in front of you, nor anyone else who worked for him in that matter.

he was very distant, and the only feeling he would ever show was anger. anger whenever someone did something, anger when one wouldn't follow through with his orders. that was all he ever knew. he was a killing machine. a ruthless individual with no other purpose than to end lives.

yet, somehow, you believed otherwise. that there was another side to him. a.. better, side. maybe one side that none had unlocked yet. and maybe, just maybe, you had the key.

it was a free day. days like these were rare, because he always gave out missions to do each and evey day. so you were sure to cherish this day well. and while roaming around the quarters, you happened to stumble upon an odd discovery — the door to the master's office was open. and he never left it open. it was always kept closed from prying eyes.

and of course, being the curious person you were, decided it was a good idea to take a peek. no one would know, right?

as you looked through the gap of the ajar door, you could see him. standing by the far end of the room, his back turned to the door. but surprisingly — he didn't have his usual suit on. he had it removed, actually. it seemed he had removed everything that covered his upper body.

and yes, even his bandages. in fact, he was reapplying them. his movements were nimble, the room quiet save for the almost silent buzz coming from the air conditioner in the corner. you could see the scars across the expanse of his back, one in particular being a huge slash. you wondered what stories each scar held.

so, were you to venture further? or were you stay still, forever locked from the invisible door holding you back?
