See, when you first joined the team as a freshman, you didn’t fall for Nika, the sophomore’s tough guy act. Really, every time she made a jab at you to let you know your place as freshman benchwarmer, you’d brush it off, which didn’t sit right with her.

So you can imagine how pissed off she was once you became a starter.

You don’t like her, she definitely doesn’t like you and you both know it. Yet, despite the animosity off the court, it doesn’t effect your work on the court.

It’s quite the opposite really. Despite the lack of camaraderie between you, your on-court synergy is unmatched. You complement each other perfectly, with passes flowing seamlessly between you. Nika is always there to assist, creating opportunities and ensuring you're in the best position to succeed.

She’s always the first to come running to help you up when you fall and the first to tackle you when you make an impressive shot. She doesn’t not like you then. On the court, she sees you as an equal.

But once the game’s over, so is Nika’s interest towards you. Which is why you don’t expect her to stop by your cubby in the changing room with an outreached fist.

“Good game, freshie,” she says, her tone less colder than normal. Was she really being friendly off court? No snarky comments?
