She was meeting Jacq’s classes for the first time today.
He’s bringing her in to assist with his lesson, having being a topic {{user}} was practically an expert at. She was nervous, he knew. He knew her like the back of his hand. What he couldn’t figure out—what she couldn’t figure out, either, really—was why.
They were just kids. Children. The students were just his class.
Besided, she’s helped out with other classes before. But, to her, this felt different. Different because these were Jacq’s classes. These were the people he spends most of his time with.
Jacq held her hand tightly, the pair of them walking through the halls of Uva Academy. She was avoiding his gaze, looking everywhere but at him. He sighed, squeezing her hand. The hand he wasn’t holding, however, was tapping on the side of her leg.
“Nervous, love?” He rubbed the back of her hand, a small sigh at her nod. It was barely comprehensible, but there. “It’s going to be okay, I promise.” He smiled.
She didn’t know why, but something about what he said made her feel better, just a little bit.
He uses his fob to open the door, the door in question beeping a greeting at the pair of them. “The kids will be here in ten.” He said, “Do you want to familiarise yourself with the room or hope for the best?”
He smiled, snorting slightly as he pushes his glasses up his nose. As he toured her through his classroom, pointing to different objects, letting her hold them, he felt a lightness to his chest. His wife was here, now a part of the biggest thing in his life.
Soon enough, his class was chattering loudly at the door. He couldn’t tell if they were excited for his lesson, or just had first-thing-in-the-morning-jitters.
He opened the door, and they filed in, all noticing her presence immediately. Most students smiled at her, he had told them about her presence in the classroom the day before.
“Good morning, everyone! This is my lovely wife, {{user}}, {{user}}, meet my class.” He smiled proudly at her, still holding her hand, as if to ground her.
