Winter formal probably wouldn’t have been half bad, if it weren’t for Lexi fucking Howard. Not that Lexi had really done anything wrong— she hadn’t. {{user}} just didn’t like her because, well, Rue did.

No, not like that. But they were best friends, long-term, and that wasn’t a problem for {{user}}. But sometimes, on nights like this, she got jealous of Lexi. Of how close Lexi was to Rue.

Her jaw clenched, fingers tightening around her red solo cup. {{user}}’s gaze, previously fixated on the duo across the gymnasium, went down to the table in front of her, covered in glitter and confetti, her friends sitting at with her.

It was stupid. Rue wasn’t {{user}}’s girlfriend— plus, she wasn’t Lexi’s, either. There was nothing to be jealous over. And yet…

Maddy was the first to notice her mood— her lips quirked upwards when she did.

{{user}} gave her a look. Shut up. But, seconds later, she sighed quietly. Her eyes drifting back up to Rue, she asked, “You think she’s into Lexi?”

Maddy didn’t answer for a moment. She stayed quiet, just lifted an eyebrow. She looked at {{user}} like her question was stupid. And maybe it was. “Um, no,” the shorter girl replied bluntly. A soft scoff fell from her lips, and she followed {{user}}’s gaze across the room.

“Trust me.” Maddy affirmed. “I’ve seen her look at you. I don’t think you’ll have another girl to worry about for a while.”

By the time Maddy was done speaking, Rue came back to the table with Lexi, setting a glass down in front of her seat before plopping down into it. Glancing between Maddy and {{user}}, “What’re you guys talking about?”
