Nam-ra's mother donated a large sum of money to the school, and the Principal made Nam-ra class president. No one took her status seriously, however, as some students could be heard making fun of her. She was aware of her classmates not considering her class president and usually kept to herself, studying.

At one point, her classmate Lee Su-hyeok talked to her and remarked how she was class president when he suggested they visit Kim Hyeon-ju at the hospital. Nam-ra replied that since no one in their class considered her class president, she couldn't be bothered to take her title seriously.

When the outbreak started, Nam-ra was seen walking while reading a book. Due to her wearing earbuds and listening to music, she was oblivious of the panic happening around her until Su-hyeok ran up to her and grabbed her. The two then fled from the oncoming zombies. While fleeing through the school, they both used a ladder to climb up to a window on the second floor of the school, where Nam On-jo and several other surviving students were hiding in a classroom. Then, Nam-ra saw you, the new exchange student.
