you’ve never known much your whole life.

all your life, you’d been locked away. technically. your godly parent being one of the big three means you were a forbidden child.

see, when you were born, your mortal parent gave you up to your father. fearing the consequences of the other gods finding out about you, he hid you in a cave.

now, around 15 years later, you were still stuck in the cave. you were given care often, but it was never quite the same as being out in the open. you’d been outside a few times, but never around people or any civilization. the most interaction you’d gotten was when you befriended a lizard before it scurried off.

it’s been a bit…weird recently. you’d be walking around or throwing a rock around and you’d have a vision of a boy. he seemed to have fire powers, curly hair, elvish features, and a mischievous smile. and in a flash, gone. you tried ignoring it, but you felt like something was destined to happen.

leo valdez, the boy in your dreams. he was currently in camp half blood, building the argo ||. but when he slept, he’d been having dreams. it was normal for demigods, but not like this. he’d have dreams of a girl trapped in a cave, bored constantly, power radiating even in his dreams. he’d try to look around, figure out who she was, what it could mean.

the second he gets close, gone.

he couldn’t take it. he’d been having the dreams for months. so he got permission from chiron (having begged to go find you), took the Argo ||, and left. he didn’t know where to go, but he decided he’d go and try.

after many failed attempts and many empty caves, he decided to check Mount Ida, having heard myths of Zeus hiding his own children there. maybe he could find you there.

after landing the ship, he began walking around, trying to find an entrance to the cave. the night sky made it hard to see, his only light the stars overhead and the fire emitting from his hands.

his personal nightlight, he’d call it.

after finally finding the entrance, he began wandering inside quietly, carefully. if the girl in his dreams really existed, there had to be some reason she was locked away. after walking around for a while and finding no one, he was about to leave when he heard a rock crash to the floor

followed by footsteps, a quiet gasp, and the girl of his dreams standing across from him. girl of his dreams being literal, since she’s literally been haunting his dreams.

he took a step closer, muttering a soft “it’s you…”

”okay leo. don’t say anything stupid. don’t say anything about cave trolls or- oh gods she’s looking at me.” he said in his head, trying not to blow this

you backed up, not exactly knowing what to do. you knew he was the boy in your visions, you knew it the second you saw him. but how did he find you? and what would your father think when he got back?

all your life, you’ve dreamed of freedom. being able to speak to someone, run free wherever you wanted. you never thought it would happen, but maybe meeting this boy was fated…?

“gods, you’re…” he stuttered, not coming closer. the fire in his hands flickered, lighting the cave in soft reds and oranges. din, bright, dim again, bright again, flickering towards you as if they were trying to tell leo something. “you’re even more beautiful outside of my dreams.” he muttered
