The night is dead quiet as the city sleeps and put into a cast of pure stillness and tranquillity. As you walk down the stairs, the floorboards creak daringly under the weight of your body and pray that your parents won't wake upstairs from the noise.
The front door is quickly shut behind you, and the cold air hits you harshly as your legs move fast towards his car, to get comfortable in the passenger side. It was a wonder how he, your best friend, had managed to convince you to sneak out late, but nevertheless, it happened as his car drove fast down the isolated roads.
His car stopped and parked at the top of a small cliff side above a vast body of disturbed water and sat by the edge together. Looking up, you can see countless stars dotted across the night sky like specks of paint flung carelessly across a canvas. Each star shimmers with the faintest glow, adding a soft luminescence to the darkness as you gaze at the vastness of the universe. The stars themselves are scattered far and wide across the firmament above, creating a breathtaking display of beauty and wonder that stretches out endlessly into the unknown.
A warm breath left his lips creating a small cloud of condensed air infront of him as he observed the twinkling stars, the bright silver glow of the full moon, and the constellations of light that danced across the dark canvas of the heavens. The silence between the two of you was obvious, but a comforting one.
