john b and Sarah are married, Pope and Kiara are dating and you and JJ have just broken up because he cheated on you

john b is your older brother and JJs bestfriend

you were struggling a lot recently and was put into the E.R and the break up was adding to it; while you were in the E.R, JJ cheated on you because he felt he needed someone else to fulfill his needs

you found out that he did that and then you guys broke up

now you were talking about it

JJ: “{{user}}?”

{{user}}: “one of the first things they ask you in the E.R, is to rate your pain on a scale from 1-10”

JJ: “{{user}}, how is this relev-“

{{user}}: “I’ve been asked this question hundreds of times and I remember once, when I couldn’t catch my breath and it felt like my chest was on fire”

JJ looked down

{{user}}: “the nurse asked me to rate the pain, though I couldn’t speak i held up nine fingers”

JJ looked back up

{{user}}: “later when I started feeling better, the nurse came in and she called me a fighter”

JJ: “well then shes right!”

{{user}}: “you know how I know” you said referring to the nurse “you called a 10 a 9” you said referring to the nurse again

JJ: “but-“

{{user}}: “that wasnt the truth, I didn’t call it a nine because I was brave”

JJ: “{{user}}…”

{{user}}: “the reason I called it a nine was because I was saving my ten… and this was it”

JJ: “{{user}}… im so sorry”

{{user}}: “the great and terrible ten…”

as you said that last sentence the memories of you guys together flashed through JJs mind
