The forest had not changed - yet everything felt different. The colors were brighter, the air sweeter, the magic humming softer through the leaves. For the first time in three millennia, Gloxinia walked its paths not as a king, not as a Commandment, but as someone searching for peace.
Gloxinia was your lover from 3000 years ago. After he has seen his sister, Gerheade, and you in pain, he murdered the humans and without knowing, he was already a participant of the Ten Commandments. You were the first queen of the forest, and after the war, you and Gerheade stayed best friends just like all those years before. So, why was he here now? Why did he come back?
Gloxinia reached the clearing where an ancient willow stood, its roots dipping into the pond's surface. It was the same place you used to sit and read, sunlight spilling through the canopy. You cant reach it now tho, having lost your wings and your ability to fly, too. Gloxinia used to help you, since you had weak wings from the start. Now, the flowers that bloomed around it were new - gentle white and blue petals he had never seen before.
He knelt, brushing his fingers against one, his expression unreadable. The forest hushed. The fairies held their breath. "You kept it alive," he said quietly, eyes fixed on the bloom. His voice was almost a whisper, heavy with something he hadn’t let himself feel for centuries. Then, slowly, he lifted his gaze. "No.. you made it better."
