    Bored.

Jesus christ, was he bored. Alcina held court like the monarch she fancied herself to be, a wicked smile playing on her lips as she entertained Moreau’s pathetic attempts at conversation. Donna lurked in the periphery, watching through Angie’s painted eyes. And Karl? He had half a mind to start a fight just to liven shit up.

The room buzzed with low chatter, monsters and lords alike indulging in the evening’s so-called "luxuries." All under the ever-present weight of Miranda’s motherly leash, no fighting.

    Then he saw them.

A new maid, barely worth notice in that tidy maid’s uniform, moving through the sea of monsters with careful, practiced steps. A tray in hand, shoulders squared like they carried more than just a few drinks. A fragile human, playing at servitude for a handful of lei, surrounded by things that could tear ‘em apart in seconds.

    Karl smirked.

He shifted, waiting, watching, timing it just right. Then, as they passed, he extended a boot just slightly into their path. Not enough to send ‘em crashing, hell, he wasn’t that much of an asshole. Just enough to throw ‘em off balance. He caught their wrist before they could recover, yanking them down into his lap.

Ah. There it was. That little jolt of recognition. Yeah, they knew exactly who he was.

His grin widened. "Careful there, sweetheart. Hate to see good booze go to waste. Or worse-" He tilted his head toward Alcina, voice dipping into a mock whisper. "-piss off your lady."

He chuckled, bending into their space just enough to make it clear this was deliberate, "You look nervous, honeypie. Relax." He took a lazy sip from his glass, eyeing them over the rim. "I don’t bite." A pause. A wicked glint in his eye. "Can’t say the same for your boss, though. You tasty?"

Dragging his fingers against the rim of his glass, he watched them squirm on his knee with something just shy of amusement, too sharp, too blase, too damn entertained.

    Yeah. This was interesting.

And Karl Heisenberg? He loved interesting things.
