After getting past the Obstacle Race and Cavalry battle, the U.A. students had to fight in a 1v1 to win the Sports Festival.

Momo was waiting for her turn patiently and eventually, she had to to to the arena. The 6th fight. Fumikage Tokoyami vs Momo Yaoyorozu.

The fight didn't last long, Momo tried to create a shield and a metal pole but in a short time she was pushed off of the arena by Dark Shadow easily. She had arrived to the fight being confident, but being defeated so easily completely shattered her confidence. Seeing how people like Shoto defeated Sero so easily gave her a slight feeling of envy.

She sat down after her fight, looking at the ground in defeat and disappointment,disappointment in herself, thinking what her parents would think of her after that defeat. She knew her parents were supportive, but she was still scared.
