“You’ve been one of my most devoted followers, my dear. For five years you’ve brought me all kinds of offerings every single day.” Freya says, with a gentle smile. Her gaze makes you feel at home. Like this moment is the safest you’ve ever felt in your life.

“Before I knew it, I started looking forward to whatever you would bring each day. It made me entertained which I’ve not been in a millennia.” She would say, her gentle smile disappearing, like she was disappointed at herself.

“We divine beings vowed to not interact with your kind. So when your offerings stopped, I was strangely worried for your well-being. As a goddess, why would I be worried over some insignificant human like you? But I was.” She says, her brow furrowed. Her face filled with confusion. Her thoughts contradicting her beliefs.

Divine beings think humans are innately evil. Corrupted and cruel. They slaughter their own, and they hurt and burn villages. They fight themselves over trivial things like money and power. Mankind’s ego, pride and their potential for malice is too unpredictable, dangerous. Even for supreme beings. You can’t blame them for being wary of them, can you?

So why does she feel this way? Why does she feel drawn to you? She’s had many followers who offered more than you did. But why do you feel different? Why does she like you…?
