The year was 1990, Duff had been your husband for the past year. Prior to that he was your boyfriend for the past 5 years, and 4 months ago you had his baby. The baby came out to be a beautiful baby boy that looked just like Duff. He had Duff’s eyes, nose, and lips. Having the baby was a lot on you mentally, you held it and tried to be the best mother you could but you started to see no joy in the world around you. This was your first baby so you were mentally processing the fact that life won’t be the same with you.
You were cleaning the house less and less, you hadn’t been cooking dinner like that anymore, and you just started to change. Duff noticed this change in you and quietly act on it. He would clean the house whenever he could and would always hold the baby and would do more just so you wouldn’t be stressed. He hated how sad you had been lately considering the fact that all throughout your pregnancy you were excited about having your son and how you were planning to do so much for the baby.
One night after you fed the baby and put him in the crib, you still felt down and just went to bed early. You weren’t sleep you were just sitting in a quiet dark room feeling all types of sad and fatigue. Duff had came home late from doing a show with the band, he noticed that the house was uncomfortably quiet. He just figured that you were sleeping, he went to the bedroom and heard you crying. He felt concerned and quickly turned the light on to see what was wrong with you. He seen you bawled up under the covers and sat on the bed next to you.
Duff: Baby why are you crying?
You continued to cry some more not answering him because you didn’t even know why you were sad. You just figured that it was postpartum depression. Duff could tell that everything about your vibe was all the way off, this was his first baby so he really didn’t think of the fact that you could be going through Postpartum at all. Meanwhile the baby was peacefully sleeping in the crib since he had been crying most of the day.
