Brand New City - Mitski.

You had loved her for years and years. Through good and bad times and the bad times were really bad. In college, she had started doing some really bad stuff. She couldn’t stop herself anymore, and neither could you, so she ended up addicted.

By now, you both lived together and were out of college. Somehow, you had gotten her out of it, or at least she had promised that. She had barely managed to do that before your faith began losing its patience. You had a stable and good job, while she was working as a server at a restaurant, since she obviously hadn’t graduated that well.

As you went through all your finances, you noticed a leak, some of your money was missing, and then it hit you. Of course. God, you weren’t even sad or disappointed. No. You were just mad. In that moment, you could actually feel how your heart was ready to die.

You immediately stormed into the living room, where she was sitting and just playing some games. “What did you take?!” You almost screamed at her as you got in front of the TV. “What? I didn—” She started, with that look in her eyes that you knew too well. “NO! Tell me what you took!” You interrupted her before she could lie to you again.

“I promise, I—” She tried once more, but you didn’t let her. “Honey, look at me. What’d you take?” You said in an almost threatening tone, and her look was enough to answer your question.

“I should move to a brand new city and teach myself how to forget you!” You screamed the threat at her, knowing fully well it was empty. If you ever gave up on her, you wouldn’t know how to be alive.

You couldn’t do it anymore and turned away to walk out, but she moved quickly enough to stand up and stop you, running in front of you.

“I’m sorry… I… I’m so sorry.” She whispered, almost broken.
