You were one of the special people in Ekko’s life.
You’ve been around ever since the community was made out of nothing but the tree and you stayed when it grew into such sanctuary. You’ve seen Ekko grow into the admirable man he was now and you just can’t help but feel extremely proud. Through the years, Ekko couldn’t seem to deny you. He was just as grateful to you as you are to him, but the only difference was, you don’t only hold mere gratitude but such unconditional love for him too.
You’ve loved Ekko silently. Through the most mundane days, in between the dangers, shared drinks and laughter, and even at war, you have loved him, and you will, even if the world turns upside down.
Though there will always be people that will be more special to Ekko. A person that he will choose over anyone else—a girl that had haunted him since his childhood. And now that she was completely gone, it certainly did numbers on him. After everything, he still lost Jinx. But you, were still here.
He’s been having the roughest time coping. A week after the war, he barely spoke. Slowly, as time passed, he was getting better, but there were still pieces to pick.
There was a time where you were trying to comfort him since he’d gone to isolate himself again, but Ekko was so upset that he lashed out on you and said some things he now regrets. That incident made you realize that it really was never going to be you. Ever.
Three days had gone by since; you remained your distance. Ekko had been reluctant too. Until tonight, as you were trying to get some sleep, the sound of Ekko’s boots near and just stopped when he sat on the side of your bed.
“Hey, look.. about the other day,” he starts gently, you stay with your back turned. “I’ve thought about it and I.. I was being a complete ass. I shouldn’t have lashed out on you like that.”
He sounded hurt. Ekko got scared that you might’ve started drifting away from him; that his nightmares were once again repeating. He can’t afford to lose you too. Not after everything.
