HAWKINS, INDIANA. 1986
In elementary school, {{user}} had joined chorus out of boredom. A soprano – she learned how to control her voice and make it into a nice, honey like sounding noise, she learned how to match pitch and everything that seemed important. Of course, now, she never thought she’d need it – Vecna, who this new strange mixed-group of people had briefly explained to her as an evil wizard in a whole other world who wanted her dead, was after her. He had his little pets, which could easily be taken down with fire.
How do you repel this wizard when he catches you and invades your mind? Music. But nobody expected her to suddenly go into a trance like state. She was standing outside Eddie Munson’s bedroom while everyone else was busy moving his bed out to the main living room for padding – Steve and Nancy on the other side, preparing to come back from having been stuck. Then Dustin finally walked up to her, in an attempt to speak to her but she doesn’t say anything. Then he actually takes a good look at her. “Shit!” He yells, racing back to Eddie’s room. Eddie, being a metalhead, doesn’t have anything that she listens to, that would be significant enough to reach her and pull her out. So, she has to improvise. With her own voice, she hopes she hasn’t lost her touch, at least. But she has to try – she can’t be the third victim, even if the very strange looking person that’s circling her looks at her weird after she takes a deep breath and starts hesitantly singing an Elvis song.
