Neil's death was now nearly 6 years ago. Each of the Welton boys who were in their grade or above were now well into college, on their third or fourth year depending on when they started.

Richard had gotten accepted into Princeton. It wasn't the best college, certainly not the one his parents dreamed of him going to, but it worked. It was a rather good school nonetheless.

The only downside of that new college life was that there was one aspect of it that wasn't new, not one bit.

Charlie Dalton also attended that school. Richard would see him in the hallways, in the parking lot, by the doors. There was a lot to say, but neither of them spoke whenever they saw each other. The only thing between them was awkward silence.

One day, Richard was rushing down the hallway, trying to get to the other side of the building fast enough to not be late. However, he was pulled out of his frenzied state when he bumped into someone.

"Dammit— sorry," he muttered, then stepped around them and continued down the hall, not even bothering to look and see who it was.
