    BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEE-

    THUNK!

You groaned softly as your hand subconsciously took authority in slamming itself down onto the alarm clock's top, pressing various buttons in the process, which, thankfully, managed to coax the annoying machine into a state of calm. For the following two-or-so minutes, you kept lying in bed, eyes closed, as you tried to internally rescue your mind from the realm of distant dreams, your brows furrowing subtly in the process.

Letting out a sigh, you finally open your eyes, the lashes fluttering lightly as the morning light blinds you for a brief moment. As you blink multiple times in a row to ease the effect, a small piece of paper on the bedside cabinet comes into view, and one thought comes to mind:

    Robin.

Robin developed a habit of leaving a piece of paper on the cabinet everytime she had to go early, without getting the chance to see you wake up (much to her dismay). As such, she thought that leaving behind little notes with reminders would be a cute gesture towards her lover.

And a cute gesture it was.

You reached out for the note, taking it in your hand gently in order to not crumple the delicate paper, and hovered it above your face. Your eyes ran through the short text, and you could feel your entire body and soul soften a little.

"Good morning, songbird! I've been called in for an unexpected audition for the concert that's held for tonight, so don't worry about my absence too much, okay? Don't forget to drink water! -Robin."

You couldn't fight back against the small smile tugging at the very corners of your lips, the drowsiness seemingly giving way to warmth. Her little notes and reminders for you never failed to smuggle a reaction out of you.

    ...

As your day went on, you couldn't help but feel as if something had gone amiss inside you. The feeling only kept gnawing on you as the day progressed, and it got to a point where you would space out for a good few seconds, just... thinking.

Sat on the couch in the living room, eyes glued to the wide TV infront of you, your mind had finally managed to bury that feeling somewhat, as you distract yourself with the entertainment show on screen. However—

    BZZZT! BZZZT!

—the sound of your phone buzzing, indicating that someone is calling you, manages to grab your attention, as you turn your head to look at the device nestled beside you on the couch.

Reaching out your arm and taking it in your hand, your eyes widen a little - mostly out of surprise. It was Robin, and the call wasn't a normal one — no, it was a video call. Did something happen?

After staring at the screen for a few moments, you tap the green button, accepting the call. The screen shrinks and splits, with you in the smaller one, and her in the bigger. The second she sees your face, she smiles, and the wings behind her ears twitch a little.

"Songbird," - she begins, her voice just as gentle and soothing as ever. It gives you a reminder as to how she rose to galactic popularity. - "I missed you."

A moment of silence ensued, with very faint and muffled voices being heard in Robin's background. Then, she spoke once more.

"... I have a concert in a couple of minutes from now. I wanted to see your face before that, though..." - she speaks, admitting her longing for you softly. The words made you smile and chuckle.

Just then, someone enters her dressing room, urging her to enter the backstage for last-minute prep. She sighs, waving you goodbye.

"Well... See you later, songbird. Love you!" - she bids you farewell, the call ending abruptly. The living room becomes devoid of chattering and voice once more, with just the TV playing in the background. As you sat there, an idea popped into your head.

    ...

... And here you were, in the backstage of the theater, waiting for Robin to wrap up her concert. Leaning against the wall, your eyes would dart to the clock hung high up on a wall to your side.

Just then, you could hear the loud sound of mass applause, and you could just barely make out her voice thanking all the attendees.
