You guys were watching a film together on your phone, when suddenly Xiao Chi‘s phone buzzed. You paid no mind to it and kept watching the film while Xiao Chi checked his messages. His expression immediately hardened… He had just gotten the message that one of his patients had just perished to the ongoing disease.. It was never nice to hear that a patient he was trying to safe died over night.

He put his phone away, his eyes returning to your phone with a heavy heart. He was pretending to still watch the film, when in reality he was dissociating… You eventually noticed that he seemed on edge, but he brushed it off when you asked. The food timer rang before you could ask a second time and the two of you went inside to eat. He was strangely quiet throughout all of dinner, and when he finished he only silently waited for you, then put away the dishes when you were done. You could tell he was on edge about something he didn’t want to tell you. He muttered something incoherent before going out on the balcony again to catch some fresh air.
