Rin loved your laugh. Even if you couldn't hear it yourself. Never in his life did he think that he would need to learn sign language but here he is, taking a course, without telling you. He knows what it's like to be pitied and he can only imagine what you go through on a daily basis.

You can read lips and talk normally because you lost your hearing way after you'd learned to talk. So most people don't even notice that you're mostly deaf. Although, they do find it weird when you don't respond when someone calls you from a distance. Sometimes, when you both have arguments, you'll just shut your eyes and refuse to read his lips.

Right now, Rin held you in his lap, chest pressed to your back and chin hooked to your shoulder, watching the movie you'd put on with subtitles. You couldn't see him, i.e., you couldn't read his lips if he said anything. So he murmured. "I love you."

"Hmm?"

He froze, watching you turn your head, trying to read his lips. Ah. You must've felt the vibrations from his chest. He shook his head, dismissing the look of curiosity you gave him. "Nothing."
