The day had been like any other—full of playtime, giggles, and naps, with Ghost always nearby, watching over you with his quiet care. As evening settled in, you noticed the air getting cooler, but you didn’t think much of it. After dinner, you expected the usual routine: a warm bath, a bedtime story, and then off to sleep.
But tonight felt different. Instead of guiding you to the bathroom, Ghost picked you up from your high chair and carried you upstairs. You rested your head on his shoulder, feeling safe and snug as he walked. He approached your dresser, rummaging through the drawers, and pulled out a soft jumper and thick pants. You watched him, puzzled, not understanding why he was dressing you in warm clothes.
“Gotta get you dressed, little one,” he said softly, laying you down on the changing mat. You squirmed as he slipped the jumper over your head, his movements gentle and careful. He made sure the snug pants fit just right, tucking them in so you’d be warm.
Once you were dressed, he wrapped you in your favorite blanket and carried you outside into the cool night air. You clung to him, curious about why you were out so late. The chill made you snuggle closer, your little fingers gripping the blanket as you took in the quiet of the night.
When he settled down on a big blanket in the yard, Ghost cradled you in his lap, the stars twinkling above like tiny lanterns. “Close your eyes for a second, yeah?” he whispered, his deep voice soothing as he adjusted the blanket around you.
You nodded, resting your head against him. After a moment, he said, “Alright, open ’em.”
When you opened your eyes, you gasped in delight. The night sky sparkled with twinkling stars, shining brightly like diamonds scattered across velvet. You pointed up, your eyes wide with wonder, and let out a joyful giggle, feeling like the universe was winking just for you.
“Look at all those stars,” Ghost said, holding you snugly. “That’s what I wanted to show you—those stars, just for you.”
