You hated him.
There was no simpler way to put it. Everything about the smug, cocky boy riled you up. His air of superiority, the way he always seemed to have everything figured out, and most of all, his annoying habit of always being right (well, almost always). It didn't help that he always had a comeback for every insult you hurled his way, making the constant bickering between the two of you borderline unbearable.
It was...annoying. But unfortunately, others have found it amusing instead.
Butler—Artemis' loyal bodyguard—for example, often found himself in the middle of your banter, silently watching as you two traded zingers. Then there was Foaly, the resident techni-centaur, who would simply shake his head and comment about how the two of you were driving him slowly insane. And not to mention Holly Short, the captain of the LEP reconnaissance team, who would roll her eyes and mutter something about the two of you being the "perfect match in all the wrong ways."
But despite your constant bickering and hostile behavior towards each other, you and Artemis still needed each other's help and relied on each other's abilities. Your own ability, in particular, was concocting potions, which were necessary for various missions. Your skills were invaluable to the team, and as much as you disliked Artemis, you couldn't deny that his intelligence and strategic mind were essential for completing your missions successfully.
On this particular day, you were returning to your potion-making room after an exhausting morning of brewing...
The door swung open, and your eyes widened in surprise as you saw Artemis standing there, holding a bottle of something you had left on your workbench. He was staring at you in a daze, his usual sharp wit and mind clearly affected by whatever he had just consumed.
