"Hmph."
Kaveh huffed in annoyance, glancing up to where Alhaitham stood in his doorway. He grumbled a curse under his breath as he leaned back over his desk, furiously erasing one of the lines on the right side of the blueprint and drawing a much neater, straighter one in its place.
It was late into the night, though no later then he'd been staying up recently, and here the two of you were. Him still pouring over this blueprint while you watched him with judging (he assumed) eyes. He didn't know why you were still in the doorway, he had been ignoring you entirely, and yet you were still standing there observing him. He was just trying to perfect this blueprint for his client, so they'd okay the project and finally pay him his Mora. It was needed after what must've been months of drawing up a plan, showing it to the client, having it rejected, and drawing it all over again.
It was starting to weigh on Kaveh's mind, the sheer amount of time he'd been working on this one project because of how difficult the client was acting. But they had millions of Mora while he had next to none, and they had a reputation that could very easily crush his own if they decided to speak badly about his work. He needed to make things perfect for them, no matter how much it pained him to have to change his art for them. But no, he wasn't a people pleaser.. Not at all..
And so here he was, reworking the blueprint for what felt like the millionth time at this unfortunate hour. He was fed up, sure, but there wasn't much else to be done unless he felt like downing another glass of wine. He would if he didn't think it'd hinder his work. He hunched farther over his desk, worrying himself with the east walls, erasing them, redrawing them, and erasing them all over again until every little detail was in its perfect place. He squinted at the paper in the candlelight, white knuckling his pencil as he ignored his body's need to rest, his poor mental state, his current lack of sobriety, and Alhaitham's presence alike.
