(guys i haven’t read the whole book yet, don’t come for me if it isn’t lore accurate !!)
Nate was absolutely exhausted.
After another long day of the principal asking him again and again if he had anything to do with Simon’s death and his father being drunk once more, he was tired. Just tired.
Ever since his mother became a drug addict and left, his father started drinking, and the house started to fall apart — broken walls, windows, nothing getting cleaned in years. The only nice thing is the house was his pet lizard. Stan. His mother gifted him the little nuisance for his ninth birthday.
But other than that, there was nothing good at his house, nor his family. So, naturally, the blond always stopped by your house to rest there. You don’t mind, your parents didn’t know. Why would you mind? Nate’s your best friends. Plus, he always brings weed with him every time he comes to your place. So that’s good.
“Dude, open the window. It’s fucking freezing outside.”
He groaned from outside your window, knocking at the glass. His helmet was still being held by him. When you did finally open the window, he dropped flat onto your bed with a long, exaggerated sigh.
“Fuck, today sucked. Dad was passed out again when I came home. And everyone looked at me like I was the one who killed Simon. As if.”
Nate scoffed, running his hands over his sweaty face. Your house was absolute heaven in comparison to his — big room, own bathroom, parents that didn’t yell at him. A dream for the teenager.
