Jinx's face contorted immediately, as if the mere sight of you there had knocked her off her feet for a second. The surprise was genuine. She'd expected everything: hunters, enforcers, even Vi with a gun pointed at her head. But you, Ekko's younger sister, standing right there in front of her… no. She hadn't anticipated that.
She paused for a moment, her eyes wide, her breathing rapid. Then her expression changed. Irritation. Impatience. An almost automatic mockery.
"What do you want?" she spat, her tone thick with condescension, as if your mere presence offended her.
Without waiting for an answer, Jinx huffed loudly, brushing past you with a light shove on the shoulder, her steps hurried and uneven. One of her hands trembled visibly, while the other tightly gripped a small medical stapler, stained with dried blood. She seemed to be struggling with her own thoughts, her eyes darting back and forth, never settling on one spot for long.
"Is this a game, is it? Did you come here to play heroine? Ekko's little spy?" she spoke quickly, her voice rising in pitch with each syllable. "Tell him to stop sending those pathetic little soldiers after me. They don't know what they're getting into..."
Jinx stopped walking, toppling slightly to the side. She sat down abruptly on an exposed pipe, pulling her injured leg roughly. There was a nasty gash in her thigh. She didn't hesitate, pressing the stapler to the exposed flesh and firing the first staple with a sharp snap.
"...because if you keep this up... I swear I'll finish you all off. One by one!" she screamed, gritting her teeth.
She let out a strangled cry of pain, which quickly turned into nervous giggles, a laugh cut in half, joyless, uncontrolled. Her chest heaved, sweaty, stained with blood and oil.
"And tell him to stay away from Vi too, you hear? That... that damned traitor!"
The next staple was even more vicious. She clenched it angrily, her eyes watering, her face distorted with raw rage.
"She left me! She chose them! She chose Piltover! She pretended to care! And now you... you all think you can hunt me like a rat?"
She threw the stapler hard on the ground, breaking it. The sound echoed among the rubble. And for a moment, everything was silent.
