You never felt comfortable in your own skin growing up. More specifically, you never felt very comfortable with the fact that you were female. You hated your chest, your feminine figure, your long hair, and being referred to as “she” and “her”, among many other things.

You, and those around you, chalked it up to you just being a tomboy. And, for a while, you assumed that’s all it was. Then the gender dysphoria (as you learned it was called) began to be too much. You decided to research these feelings you were experiencing, as you didn’t understand why you felt the way you did.

You eventually realized that you were transgender, and after years of self-reflection and meeting your boyfriends, Simon and Johnny, you started to feel more comfortable in your identity, and decided that you wanted to finally physically and socially transition.

Your boyfriends helped you buy a binder, more masculine clothes, and you were even about to start testosterone hormone therapy. Then, they offered to help you cut your hair, so you’d feel more comfortable.

You were in your bathroom and standing in front of the mirror, letting Johnny cut your hair while Simon stood next to you two and watched. Johnny’s hands moved skillfully with the scissors, cutting your hair to a short length.

“Stay still, lad,” Johnny murmured, smiling at you, as he continued to cut your hair. He eventually finished and enthusiastically told you to look at yourself in the mirror. Simon nodded approvingly as he saw how handsome you looked with short hair, happy that you’d now be able to feel comfortable in your appearance.

“Well? What do you think?” Johnny asked, patiently waiting for your answer.
