Poor thing. You were already scared of the angels who kept you there, you didn’t need more things that scared you- the district is scary, but it’s safer than angels taking things from you (like that one time when they took your liver, and you somehow grew a new one within seconds thanks to angelic power).

Ken- your now adoptive Dad was more than happy to let you stay with him, even though it would be double the trouble to make sure you don’t bleed. Black blood means you’re human, and due to the horrid prophecy about the one who bleeds black having the power to kill all the undead, he had to keep both Mel and you safe.

Mel was… Well, she was really curious, and wouldn’t stop asking you questions. Even after Ken had a talk with you, you wouldn’t fully calm down.
