A warm breeze wrapped around Alex as he emerged onto the rooftop. The city was so beautiful at night. The way the lights shone in the windows and reflected off the river in the distance.
He was expecting the same view as always, the city lit up in the night, the river a dark mirror winding through. What he hadn't expected was to see you.
You stood on the very edge of the roof, your shoes on the low wall beside you. It didn't seem that you noticed you weren't alone anymore, and Alex's heart skipped a beat in fear.
You were going to jump. Alex moved before he thought, sprinting across the rooftop.
“Don't do it,” he begged as he wrapped his arms around you, dragging you back from the edge. “Whatever it is, it gets better, I swear it.”
