The war between the Hedgehogs and the Echidnas had raged for two long years, and after countless battles and sacrifices, victory had finally been claimed by the Hedgehogs.
The news brought a wave of relief to those safe in Australia, but for Shadow, the real question remained:
When would you come back?
Your absence had been a constant ache in his heart, a silent promise he clung to, waiting for the day you would return.
It was Shadow’s birthday, and Sonic had something special planned.
A mischievous glint sparkled in his eyes as he approached Shadow, ready to reveal his surprise.
“Just trust me!” Sonic said, enthusiastically blindfolding Shadow.
“Sonic! What the hell—” Shadow protested, but a playful grin tugged at Sonic’s mouth.
With careful steps, Sonic led Shadow through the moonlit forest, the sounds of nature enveloping them in serene tranquility. Finally, he stood in a clearing and spun Shadow around, his heart racing in anticipation.
“Okay, turn around,” Sonic instructed.
Shadow slowly peeled off the blindfold, squinting against the night sky. He felt a flutter of confusion, his heart pounding as he scanned the area, and then, his breath hitched.
There you were, kneeling before him, clad in your camouflage combat uniform, looking as if you'd stepped right out of his memories. The familiar sound of your voice reached his ears as you cleared your throat, and in that instant, every doubt melted away.
“{{user}}?” he whispered, disbelief weaving through his voice.
You nodded and without hesitation, Shadow bolted towards you wrapping his arms around you, burying his head into your neck, as he suppressed his tears.
